Cool weather in South Texas in July? Not a chance. But, what is cool is getting to spend time with my family, and I enjoy every moment of it. Despite the heat, my 8-year-old niece, Bella, and I enjoyed our day together. She was pretty intrigued by what I was doing and what I was creating on my laptop. So, I started showing and explaining TeacherSherpa to her. The activity I was working on had DIY kids and color changing clipart. “Cool!” was what she thought about that. Oh, boy! Now, I really had her attention! “You mean you can pick one clipart then change it to any color you want?” Exactly!
This artsy little 8-year-old niece of mine inched her way closer to me and sat watching as I was finishing up some of my work.
Now, Bella is a girl after my own heart. She absolutely loves creating stuff, and I think the two of us could have been in front of the computer all day and evening using different combinations of colors on the DIY clipart. So, I showed her a few things, and she was amazed that she could select one clipart that was one color, could change it to the color pink (her favorite color), then could change other things she picked for her DIY girl. She was so excited! “Aunt Danielle, come look what I did!” Of course, I couldn’t help but smile from ear to ear. She was just as excited as I was!
Yes, I’m a proud aunt who loves that my niece was interested in hearing about my work and eager to try her hand at creating a “kid piece of artwork” (Hmmm, this sounds like a TS for kids in the future?). So, I couldn’t let the evening pass without sharing my sweet Bella’s “artwork”. Please bear with my “bragging aunt syndrome”. (Huge smiles.)
