Oh, how I just love Flat Stanley and the excitement created in the classroom when students get to create their own, unique Flat Stanley to send off on adventures of their own. Take that and add a reading response with Flat Stanley and there you have it…a fun, little independent activity or extension to a guided reading lesson. Perfect!
As a teacher and as an aunt, I’ve been able to join in on the excitement with my own students as well as with my nephews and nieces! I’m not sure what I enjoy the most – seeing the excitement of the kiddos as they create their Flat Stanley, sharing in on the eagerness of students wanting to share where their Flat Stanley has traveled to or receiving Flat Stanley from one of my own nephews or nieces to take Flat Stanley on travels with my own family! So. Much. Fun!
If you haven’t taught a lesson using Flat Stanley, I highly recommend you do so. Your students will love it and you’ll reap the benefits, too.
So, I’d like to share what Christine Bailes (Simply Teach) created and shared in the TeacherSherpa community. These awesome Flat Stanley printables are a must for your classroom. So, go ahead and borrow to use in your own classroom. These themed materials can be found on the Inspiration Wall or Christine’s TS Classroom, here. Go ahead take a look and borrow what you need or Save It for later or even next year!
Reading Response with Flat Stanley
Check out this Flat Stanley Reading Trifold where students can engage with the story through questions and responses that go chapter by chapter. This would be a great addition to a guided reading group, literature circle, book club or whole group lesson. The trifold contains questions that are within, beyond and about the text to help students with comprehension.
And, Simply Teach is also sharing this reading response Stanley Flat Again Reading Trifold where students can engage with this sequel through the questions and responses that go chapter by chapter.
Your students will absolutely fall in LOVE with all the Flat Stanley books and these reading response Flat Stanley activities! So, as you keep moving through this great collection of reading, don’t forget to borrow the Invisible Stanley Reading Trifold, too!
And, to add to the Flat Stanley fun, you’ll also want to download this Stanley in Space Reading Trifold. What a great story for students to connect with.
Oh, and during the holiday season, you will definitely want your students to read about Stanley’s Christmas Adventure. Simply print and copy the pages front to back and fold into thirds. Oh, what fun your students will have!
As always, I hope you enjoy these materials. And, at TeacherSherpa, we love sharing – so please pass this along and share with all of your teacher friends!
Oh, and one last thing – remember, we’ve added a new Save It feature to help you easily save the things you find when browsing activities on the Inspiration Wall. So download it now or Save It for later or even next year and get ahead of your planning!
